World Natural Heritage - Enjoy the beautiful nature of Amami Oshima Island with soothing images and



On July 26, 2021, the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) registered Amami Oshima and Tokunoshima Islands in Kagoshima Prefecture, and the forests of northern Okinawa Island and Iriomote Island in Okinawa Prefecture as World Natural Heritage sites.

This precious area, inhabited by endemic creatures and preserving biodiversity, has been registered as a World Natural Heritage site.
