Hormone "orexin" that is closely related to sleep

With the development of medical research, the hormone "orexin" secreted from the hypothalamus has been discovered.

The name comes from the Greek word (orexis), which means appetite.

Orexin issues a wide range of commands as shown in the figure.

In other words, the presence of orexin allows the brain to wake up and be active .

There is also a related illness called narcolepsy that causes you to fall asleep suddenly.

3. Good sleep when receptor block-Mechanism of sleeping pills-

 

In order for orexin to work, it must bind to a site called the orexin receptor.

This mechanism is used to block the orexin receptor in advance with a drug.

Then, it suppresses the increased wakefulness and brings sleep.

Suvorexant is an orexin receptor antagonist and is prescribed under the name "Versomura".

Belsomra means "beautiful sleep" and is derived from belle (beautiful) + som (sleep) .

In French, sleep is called sommeil and sleep is called sommeiller.
